Eddie Iz Running - Wednesday 5th August

05 Aug 2009

Today’s weather has been lovely which has made such a difference after yesterday’s flooded roads.

Eddie ran through Ystradgynlais today and stopped off in the high street to say hello to all the supporters who came out to applaud him.

He ran down the street where he used to live and dropped in at  his old house.  Some of the neighbours came out including a 98 year old lady who has lived there all her life and remembered Eddie!

His feet are brilliant today as he is wearing trainers that are half a size bigger than normal and so slightly wider.

Jo, Eddie’s Sports Therapist, has been stripping his ITB’s...basically giving him lots of deep massages from his hip to below his knee so he doesn’t develop Ilio-Tibial Band Syndrome.  The massages are quite painful and can lead to bruising.

His team decided to stop for lunch at the Penyeae Inn (near Brecon Beacons) and discovered a big hut with 2 pet skunks!

Don't forget you can sponsor Eddie on the Sport Relief donation page here!

hello im not getting through here two comments have vanished so will try again take three "cough" well it seems like things are better today... better feet (new trainers) better weather (sunshine ) and generally more settled. its the nature of long adventures that as one thing is cleared up another moves in but you have spirit and are determined so i dont doubt you will over come . thanx to jo for all her hard work and bravo eddie for enduring it,,,,you sre in good hands and are prepared to take what has to be done a winning combination , hope your visit home was a good one in every sense ......and im sure seeing an old neighbour will have enhanced it greatly my wish is you came away with a feeling of warmth and pride which im sure would be around you. people will repeat the same rhings and so will i so once again what you are doing is crazy outrageous and wonderful and so are you. for as long as you are safe and can carry on we will support you. take care lovely lady/man you are a smasher hugggggggggggggs;] ps nice skunks but dont make any sudden moves the beacons just arent big enough to absorb the consequences x

Just wondering, will Eddie be running anywhere through the West Midlands? Because I really do fancy him, so it would be fan-bloody-tastic to find him and show my support for such an amazing (yet daft) thing that he is doing. Heather xxx

Well done, Eddie! So glad to hear your feet are doing better. Was really getting concerned there for a bit. You're doing so fantastically well. Still looking for ways to support you all the way across an ocean and a continent. A way that doesn't necessarily involve money, that is. But, being she of the hair-brained schemes, I'm sure I'll come up with something ... Stay tuned. And keep up the fantastically amazing work!

If you had asked me earlier, I would have said this was not possible Eddie, you are defying the odds on this one for sure. I am more impressed with this effort than I am with most Olympic athletes, how are you doing this!? I cannot even imagine, simply amazing Eddie, simply amazing!!! Best of luck out there, all of Blather is behind you! Love Moxie

Sending love and energy from Houston, TX, for your ambitious Marathon of Marathons! It is also good to hear that you are being well-taken-care-of, and well-received by the communities. Of course I have pledged, and told everyone here to do the same. I am SO proud of you! HoustonGran

Well done Eddie. I ran the London Marathon this year and I was knackered so you are an absolutely hero for what you are doing. I had to have a lot of ITB massages and they are one of the most painful things on this planet, so I really feel for you on that one. Just keep going. You'll feel on top of the world when you finish. Loads of Love Sarah xxx

How about trying barefoot running Eddie? I've heard it is the way to go might be painful at first but there is nothing to rub on your feet and give you blisters either not sure which is best myself why not give it a go for a day or too Eddie?

Hi Ediie, we met you at a pub near Brecon. we are the Mini drivers from Holland. One of us had a strest limo. Can you please tell me where i can find the movie of our meeting. We had to sign some papers to be sure that we have no problems with showing our face on the BBC. THe guys from BBC told us that the movie was on internet, but I can't find it. Do you have a link for us? Thanks a lot kind regards, Richard (Mini driver from Holland)
