Eddie Iz Running - Wednesday 19th August
19 Aug 2009
The team weren’t able to wait at the finish point yesterday so Eddie got in the rickshaw to met them when he’d finished his 20th marathon. Before he arrived, a car full of girls pulled up next to them. They’d been driving up and down the road looking for him for ages. The team had got some streamers, party poppers and bunting prepared to celebrate his achievement. A Lady in a nearby house came out and donated money, then the neighbours came out and so there was a little gathering of people eating ice cream all waiting for Eddie. They had champagne in plastic cups.
At the hotel restaurant, there were streamers and party hats for everyone and balloons all as a surprise for Eddie when he came down! Susanne who works at the hotel, made a lovely cake. It was amazing, it had running shoes on it and candles shaped like a 20. They all sang happy 20th marathon to him! Although there was champagne available, everyone restrained themselves and went to bed at 11.30pm as they had to get up early! So rock and roll!
Eddie left ∏ hour later today, just East of the A75 at about 9.40am. The road is very busy with lots of trucks, so it’s a tough one to run. Eddie went through Dumfries towards the Bridge of Dee. It was just remote farmland for most of the day, with not a pub in sight! An ultra marathon lady ran with Eddie just out of Dumfries. The team are trying desperately to keep things dry in the van as it’s wet outside all the time. Eddie got some more insoles for his trainers. They are special ones that correct his altered foot pattern!

You just tweeted completion of mara 21!....while I was just able to watch diary part 3 / mara 14...when you said "Welcome to pain TV" ..... I know you meant it... and it must hurt like hell each day .....and yet you've pushed on and on .......and on! despite being knackeredly knackered.......... at Mara 21 you've blown through the half way point of your quest! Well Done doesn't say enough.... you have exceeded everyone's expectations...perhaps even your own..... but do GO ON Eddie ... and bless you, you have The Right Stuff to do this!

Fair play Eddie, you've inspired me to actually do one of my own. I'm walking (not fit enough to run) 999km for Focus Ireland and Homelessness on October 1st, around Ireland. If anyone wants to check it out, youtube "999km" or google "999km Walk Ireland", could do with as much support as possible. It will take me 7 or 8 weeks to walk half the distance you're running, much respect man! http://www.bebo.com/999km Danimal

Sounds like the ppl of Scotland are making you very welcome. Still am amazed at how far you've come. I apparently can barely cope with London on a fantastically humid day, so all of my many hats off to you....and thats a lot...between the fascinators and normal ones......Wishing you all the best with the rest of the quest and have fun along the way xxx

Wasn't really expecting to be driving along the old Military Road, Lochfoot and to find myself stumbling across the one and only Eddie Izzard! Was good to just catch a glimpse as I drove passed and almost ran over your film crew :-) You're doing great! All the best!
