Eddie IZ Running - Wednesday 9th & Thursday 10th September
10 Sep 2009
Wednesday was still sunny and a guy ran with Eddie who was an ex-marine. Eddie dropped in to visit Bolsover school, just out of Sheffield as he was running towards Nottingham. He had a school dinner of pasta with the pupils! He also tried to visit a castle but couldn’t get in! At 4pm he had only done 15 miles and wanted to watch the football so had to run really fast to finish over 29 miles! He did it and managed to see three quarters of the football!
Today Eddie is running through Nottingham towards Leicester. He had a twinge in his ankle which held him up. It turned out to be a medial deltoid ligament in his right ankle. There is a lot of tenderness on it which means if he doesn’t ease off it could turn into a tear or rupture. Jo has put ice on it and a compression bandage. Eddie is walking for 5 miles to test it and if it’s all ok he can keep running!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Eddie is on marathon number 39 today and has 4 more before completing his amazing challenge - please sponsor him here now!
UK only: text EDDIE to 66609, costs £5 plus standard network rate at least £3.50 goes to Sport Relief. More info on terms and conditions here.

You will never know how many people you’ve inspired, not just to donate, but to DO. There’s an image of you now always in my heart, running in the rain, on blistered feet, raising money to help people, and carrying a flag (it doesn’t matter which one: all different, all the same). Inspiring me to help too, in whatever ways I can. All good wishes, Eddie, from Sonoma County (70 miles north of “the City”).

I'm hoping and praying your ankle is ok!!!! I hope you realise how inspired people all around the world are by what you're doing. I was lucky enough to meet you near Jedburgh and then just south of Durham. As a non runner I'm amazed by your determination and your achievement. I've told everyone I know what you're doing and how to sponsor you. Stay strong... not so far now!

Fingers tightly crossed that you can continue to the finish without any serious damage. You have done such an amazing thing so far it would be a real shame if injury were to spoil it now.

Greetings to you from San Antonio, Texas! Eddie, I am not one to ever "Twitter or Blog", but following your commitment to this cause has been my guilty obsession! I have been so in awe of your fortitude and perseverance during your great adventure. Most of us look at your entertainment to define "you", but I must say, following your current journey, has only made me proud to be part of "your" human race. I can only imagine the physical pain and mental anguish you have gone through, unselfishly, for the future benefit of so many others. I know you still have a few more days to go, and now a little wounded, but your accomplishments have had a tremendous trickle down effect of humanity. Paying it forward, in a monumental way! Congratulations to you and your team for setting the bar so high for the rest of us mere mortals! Thanks for all you do! Shannon

Cool to bump into Eddie this morning. Me - "Hi Eddie, mind if I shake your hand?" Eddie - "Cool" Me - "Nice to meet you have a good day!" Suprised he didn't ask me for my autograph though. He must have been shell shocked to meet me I guess? Good work Eddie! Keep it going! And you were great in Edward II by the way (10 years ago in Leicester!). Jonny

Been following for a while now, so thought it was time to chip in... Just to say that I'm completely inspired by your efforts Eddie; sometimes in a long event the end can seem to get further away as you get closer to it, but keep strong and soon enough you'll be proudly looking back at your truly incredible achievement. I know you must have faced many dark moments by now, so if you can come through them then I'm confident you can see this through. By now, I guess you are too. MASSIVE respect.

If everyone who is following Eddie on Twitter and YouTube sponsor him at just 1 pound, he'd have a million pounds for charity! I hope that happens!

Well you are the man anyway Eddie and I will sing it for you in my heart. xx

Congratulations Eddie on completing your 10 marathons in 10 days stint! Truly remarkable! I should think it must have been one of the hardest parts of your journey so far - especially with the bad ankle. Hope your ankle is feeling better after your day off. Make sure you look after it, don't push yourself too hard and cause any lasting damage! We do worry about you! ONLY 2 RUNS LEFT TO GO! 1,000,000+ PEOPLE ARE WITH YOU ALL THE WAY AND SENDING YOU LOTS OF LOVE! WE KNOW YOU CAN DO IT! xx

Hi Eddie, just wanted to add my congrats and admiration on your epic run around the nation - shame you couldn't get over to the Isle of Man, but it's a bit out of your way! Have just added my bit of sponsorship, hope you get a huge total by the 20th. You might find a gadget called an Aircast ankle brace some help: you can still run, but it stops you going over on your ankle in either direction. Looking forward to seeing your show in Manchester on 7th November!

Well done Eddie!! We were lucky enough to see Eddie on the road leading from Woburn Sands to Woburn on Saturday 12th. He looked fab and very fit. My friend Jenny agreed that he did have manly legs now! Had a bit of camera trouble which he kindly tried to help with, got him on video instead. He has done amazingly well for a very good cause!! p.s. Does anyone know who the scottish chap is who was cycling with him and had blisters?

Wouldn't it be fabulous if everyone following on Twitter donated £1. It's not much on its own, but it would add up to mega money! I am in AWE! (just south of Raptures.)

1100 miles around the UK. Six marathons a week. "I wonder if I'm a human who's allowed to do it," you said in your first BBC 3 interview. Turns out you were allowed. Or allowed yourself. Way to go, Eddie! Off now to make a 2nd donation out of my unemployment benefit. You'll be home soon, I'll get a job soon, and I'll see you in that place that's "just a collection of houses" on Jan. 23, 2010.

Fantastic! What an awe-inspiring performance! I'd never heard of sport relief (don't watch tv) but reading about your amazing feat and sheer guts has inspired me to log on and donate. I may even go for a run :) Go ahead and enjoy a well-deserved rest now.

Eddie, I have been following your progress via Twitter religiously. You have accomplished something truly incredible, which in one sense is not surprising, because you are a brilliant comedic talent. But that you have achieved your athletic goal and have completed an unbelievably grueling campaign is even more gobstopping. Well done, indeed! Will see you Stateside at the Chicago gig Jan 8. Rest up, my dear.

Man. 7 weeks of daily marathons. The latest news is £200,000 - That's not enough. I've just been made redundant, but what the heck, I'm so completely amazed, I've had to donate.
