Eddie Iz Running - Tuesday 4th August

04 Aug 2009

Eddie had to run through lots of rain today. There was a real downpour this morning when he started off which was pretty horrible. Most of the roads he was running on were flooded and he broke his glasses as he tried to jump over the rivers of water!

Scott Mills interviewed him on BBC Radio 1 this morning, with lorries constantly going past in the background! People kept beeping their horns as they went by too which was great for encouragement but maybe not so great for radio!

In Bridgend, a bunch of local army guys in training ran with him for a while which was brilliant.

Eddie also met some little kids in Margam, he signed their arms and they went for a ride on the BBC film crew’s rickshaw around the car park of the Twelve Knights pub! Lunch at the pub consisted of bacon sarnies and Ribena.

Unfortunately one of the team managed to drop Eddie’s iPhone so it now has a cracked screen!

Don’t forget to sponsor Eddie on the Sport Relief donation page!

Downpouring rain, broken glasses, jumping streams, noisy interviews, and your precious iPhone wounded!...how much can a man take? But do carry on Eddie ...sending (((hugs)))

Oh, no! Do broken glasses and a broken iPhone mean an end to Tweeting? Say it 'ain't so! If there's any trouble tracking down a new iPhone I will personally find a way to get Steve Jobs himself to provide another. So there. Eddie, you're doing so well! You're not only inspiring people to help others, but to help themselves by running! Way to go, Running Man!

Anyone nab some pictures of Eddie with the army guys? That would be a real treat to see! :) Bad luck about the glasses and iPhone - but Eddie's tough, and some small personal losses aren't going to bring him down!

All these physical things really mean nothing. Glasses can be replaced, Iphone can be replaced, the rain is just water from the sky. The big thing that gets stronger and stronger is your human spirit...and that's what points you to what really matters in this physical world...which is people. We can't live without each other...not just loved ones, but strangers as well. Sending you lots of people to cheer your human spirit on.

At least the Eddies phone is still working, my mate dropped his on the shopping mall floor and it knocked the screen out completely, the phone still worked but you had to guess what you were touching on the screen! This was while I was at the FIDO booth trying to upgrade my phone to an i-phone changed my mind right there on the spot as I am so clumsy it wouldnt have lasted me more than 5 minutes!!
