900 Oneonta
Writer: David Beaird
Director: David Beaird
In September 1994, fresh from his performance as Del in David Mamet's The
Cryptogram, Eddie along with Steven Waddington, Estelle Kohler and David Saville, joined the cast of David Beaird's 900 Oneonta.
Originally staged at the Lyric and Hammersmith and then the Old Vic, the play was transferred to the Ambassadors Theatre following the closure of The Cryptogram.
Set in the lounge of the house of a wealthy Louisiana family, the play opens with Dandy, the grandfather and patriarch of the family lying on the floor clutching his heart and on the verge of dying. Dandy calls out for his maid to help and manages to crawl to a chair.
We are then introduced to the rest of the family and all their secrets as Dandy informs them - daughter Persia, grandsons Gilto and Tiger, the family priest, Father Bourette and Tiger's girlfriend, Palace - that he is dying and is leaving his fortune to one person.
