The Ambassadors
In 1993, Eddie made his West End debut with his first one-man stand-up show, Live At The Ambassadors, for a 4-week run at the Ambassador’s Theatre. The show was such a success that the run was extended twice and led to an invitation for Eddie to appear for a week at the Just For Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival as a showcase artist, an Olivier Award nomination for “Outstanding Achievement” and a British Comedy Award for “Top Stand-up Comedian”. Eddie then took the show on a nationwide tour of the UK.
The success of the show prompted Eddie to record and release his first video, also called Live At The Ambassadors.
Like all his subsequent video releases (Unrepeatable, Definite Article, Glorious and Dress To Kill), it was recorded in one shoot. As Eddie explains, “We record it in one shoot so it's really scary. I like the idea of just fucking going for it and it means I have to do each show as the key one”.
