In Tuesday 11th June 1997, Eddie announced the dates of his new tour, Glorious, at a secret gig at the Union Chapel, London.

He then began touring with the show in September that year - a month at New York’s PS122 and shows in Paris were followed by a mini-tour of London from October 20th. These performances at the Hammersmith Labatts Apollo, Brixton Academy, Docklands Arena and Kentish Town Forum (West, South, East and North), made up the first ever comedy tour of London and marked Eddie’s first solo appearance in the capital for 2 years - he played to 56,000 people in 4 weeks.

A 27-date tour of the UK, Scotland and Wales followed and, as the grand finale, Eddie added an extra date, the London Arena on 21st December, at which he played to an audience of 8,000, the largest comedy event ever staged in the UK at that time.
