Robin Roberts, singer/songwriter, guitar player and banjo-holic, wrote this tune to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall, Nov. 9, 1989. I sing and play guitar with Robin, and when we were figuring out how to perform this, I thought of Eddie and his talking about JFK's trip to Berlin - when he said, "Ich bin ein Berliner," which means (I learned from Eddie) "I am a jelly donut" :) - so we first started singing Ich bin ein Berliner, and then I suggested singing, "Ich bin Berliner," which is what JFK was supposed to say. We tossed that idea around, and decided to sing both. We don't in this vid, but it's in our newer (live) version on our web site: rr-bp.com Just wanted to let you know I thought of you, Eddie, and do every time we sing this song. Smilz, Billie
