3rd Place for February 2013
And a happy Thursday to all blatheren! I’ve fallen in love …… with watercolour! I used to think it was pale, boring and difficult – how wrong can one be – apart from one thing; it ia bit difficult. But the medium is colourful and not boring at all! So what has this scene got to do with Eddie, the birhday man/woman/boy/girl/pirate-person ;) If you remember ”Treasure Island” when Silver dresses in his ”captain’s” uniform before the parley of peace, there is a moment where the camera pans the sky and catches some birds and rustling palm branches. I thought it was sooo beautiful, then why not try to paint it? Ha-ha……complicated puzzle! The painting is full of flaws, a bit contrived and overworked as I’m new to this, e.g. the calm sky had to be remade into a stormy sky. (A truly good watercolour should be floaty-light….. and ”indicated, not stated”. I hope I will learn this some day….. ) Treasure Island was one of my childhood favourite books - and it was fun to watch this ”muscular” version – new and improved. I loved the movie, the close-ups, the dense light, the costumes and fabrics – and of course……… Eddie’s acting. ☺

Thank you :) I'm glad you liked it. I took some beautiful screenshots when they showed the film on net-TV, maybe I will make some more out of it in the future :)
