Hi,

Off the topic of Eddie here but, I am just curious...

Has anyone here watched the show on the CreateTV channel called, "New Scandinavian Cooking"? It has hosts Andreas Viestad, Tina Nordstrom, Claus (I forget his last name)? It is probably one of the most interesting cooking shows I've ever seen. The views of the Norwegian & Swedish countrysides are remarkable. I so now want to go there! I can't believe the views how breathtaking they are.

Is anyone here from there or has seen this show? I am a fan of him (Mr. Viestad) & the show on Facebook too. :)

Just asking if anyone has seen this show, sorry for the shameless plug.

Cheers, E.

Well, I'm Norwegian, but I have to admit I've never heard of this show before. I'm not sure if it's aired here in Norway... I hardly ever watch TV, so I wouldn't know. I must admit I haven't even heard of Andreas Viestad, but I have watched a couple of episodes of a Swedish cooking program with Tina Nordström.

And yes, Scandinavia does offer some rather nice views. :)

Hi Thinthondiel,

Hmmm, that's kind of weird it never aired there or maybe it did. lol

Here's the website though to the show here in America:

http://www.newscancook.com/

Here's the Facebook link too:
http://www.newscancook.com/home/join-us-on-facebook/

I enjoy the ideas the hosts have & their mixes of the views of all of the countries really make it very, very beautiful. I bet there are some great views there & I love how free thinking the people are, not to mention their natural, refreshing beauty.

I am allergic to many types of fish but, even when he cooks a fish-related recipe, it looks delicious.

Here's the books I own of Mr. Viestad's too:

1) http://www.amazon.com/Kitchen-Light-The-Scandinavian-Cooking/dp/1579653405/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1349189223&sr=8-1&keywords=Andreas+Viestad

2) http://www.amazon.com/Where-Flavor-Was-Born-Culinary/dp/B0032FO72C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1349189223&sr=8-2&keywords=Andreas+Viestad

(Sorry I do not remember how to post a photo with the IMG code here & I asked before but, no-one responded)

Keep in touch, what country are you from actually? I know some members of this one band I follow have roots in Sweden too.

Cheers!

Oh, I am Norwegian, both by nationality and ethnicity. :)

I just found out from the Norwegian wikipedia article about Andreas Viestad that two Norwegian seasons (as in, seasons where he speaks Norwegian) have been made and aired here in Norway, but under a different name - "En bit av Norge" (A Piece of Norway). The English-language seasons are obviously targeted towards a foreign audience, so I guess that's why they're not shown here.

Hi,
Nice to meet you "officially", I'm Elizabeth, what's your name?
I think it's fascinating of your culture. I do not know much about Scandinavian, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, cultures but, I am willing to learn! :) After viewing this show for a few seasons now & having the books & all I would say I am a fan. Maybe not a good, long-standing one but, at least a fan.

What are your winters like? What about your holiday traditions?

If you'd like to add me on FB, feel free to do so. That's if you want to talk more, that is.

That is too funny to me about how the show was under another name & shown for a small amount of time there in your country, here, we're going on the 9th season (according to the website that is). I would say I've seen about 4 or 5 seasons of the show. My favorite episode is when he made the pyramid dessert. It really did look sooo good & I thought it resembled the mountain. Sometimes on the CreateTV network here, they show old episodes of the show under http:www.scandcook.com but, that comes up as the same website I placed earlier.

Hey, if you have time, you'll have to post about the foods for the holidays there. That must be interesting.

Cheers! (work calls)

My name is Stine (pronounced similarly to the last part of Christina).

Our winters are... well, cold. And dark. The place where I grew up (which is the place I spend every Christmas vacation) is north of the Arctic Circle, so there's about a month every winter when the sun doesn't even come above the horizon. But at least the snow makes everything brighter. :)

I thought I had a couple of winter pictures from there on my computer, but it seems I only have summer pictures. Still, if you want, I can show you them. I do have a few pics that show rather nice views.

I don't have much time to talk about holiday traditions or food right now, but maybe I'll come back to it later if you want. :)

Hi,
Nice to officially meet you then.
After doing some research too, on the show & him, I read he wrote for the Washington Post. I find that really interesting since, some of our journalists here aren't exactly thrilling. I've decided to maybe try a few of the recipes in the book regarding either a side or a dessert. I am really intrigued too, on the drink he mentions quite frequently. I don't have the book with me at work now but, do you know what I'm talking about? It's like a water or a liquor. It's clear too.

Well, I've dragged this out enough. Work calls, have a good day!

Hmmm, could you be talking about akevitt/aquavit? It means "water of life," just like whiskey does. Aquavit usually has a yellowish colour, but there are some clear ones as well. I've never actually tasted it, because I don't like liquor unless it's in a cocktail. And aquavit... smells like nail polish remover.

I associate aquavit with Christmas, and I'm not sure if I've ever seen anyone drink it outside of the winter holidays. It's typically drunk during big, heavy holiday meals, especially Christmas dinner, when many people will drink beer and aquavit with the food. It is said that aquavit will help you digest heavy, fatty meals (probably not true, but that's what people say anyway).

Hello, Thin! And welcome, spooky Elizabeth,

I would love to spend winter above the Arctic circle, for a minute or two.

It has been a cool, cool summer here, near the water across from the Golden Gate.

I wish everyone a lovely fall, and stress-free days going into the holiday season. Mmmmm, pumpkin flattest! I SAID LATTES! Yes, l - a - t - t - e - s

Hi Thin,
Yes, I believe that's the name of the drink. I have to look it up tonight. I've been away ATM. My roommate & myself went to a historic battlefield recently, it was a good trip.

I used to talk to someone from Zeelander (spelling is wrong, I'm sure) & he & I used to talk about me meeting up with him but, I just couldn't schedule the time off at the time.

I am really interested in going to the Scandinavian countries now. This show with the views & recipes has truly inspired me. I'd like to go to Norway first! Cheers! (got to run, work calls)

Hi HMVincent!
You should try pumpkin mocha & white chocolate pumpkin here (at Dunkin' Doughnuts). Mmmm.

There are a total of 14 items.
