Subject: Eddie at the Largo 1/21 Posted: 25 Jan 2013 - 02:28 GMT I had a fantastic time seeing Eddie at the Largo on Monday night. When he first came out on stage (to thunderous applause for such a small theater) he just looked up at the lights and said “Uhhhh yeah, so...cornflakes.” He had the audience in stitches from the get go.
He had on his usual black v-neck t-shirt under black blazer, jeans, black wedge heels and painted fingernails. His gorgeous blue eyes were sparkling under the stage lights and I sat mesmerized. He was on for 1 hour 45 minutes. Not bad for a $25 tickets! Towards the beginning of the show, a helicopter kept flying overhead and he stopped his routine so he could hypothesize about why there was a helicopter. He said it was probably just a random guy looking for girls. “Shine a spotlight on her, she looks hot.” Amongst the topics he covered were: - Pipe smoking makes you seem wise / Lord of the Rings - Human sacrifice – mainly Steve - Ego - More compelling evidence that God does not exist - - Liam Neeson’s ‘Clash of the Titans’ - Release the Cracken without giving the Cracken instructions - Some more mime stuff where he’s making a puff pastry/ making himself dizzy - Alchemy A couple of times he went off into tangents (like ya do) forgot what he was saying and had to ask the audience what he was originally talking about. The show was 95% new material, with the last 5-10 minutes a couple of scenes from Stripped. Brilliant Brilliant !!! So glad I popped into LA to see him! |

I saw him at the Steve Allen Theater in December and I can't recall any puff pastry mime or Alchemy..... but did he do the dressage horses for you? It was very funny!!! Maybe he changes it up every show just to keep himself entertained |

Subject: Re:Eddie at the Largo 1/21 Posted: 26 Jan 2013 - 16:43 GMT Yes, he did do a small bit about horse dressage! Very funny.
At the end of the show he thanked everyone for coming and taking part in what was him just basically 'making this stuff up as he goes along'. So it seems like he does have a set outline of what he's going to talk about, but then just riffs on it show by show. I much prefer seeing his show this way, a raw performance in an intimate theatre, rather than sitting further in the back of a larger venue and seeing a 'polished' show. |

I too cannot wait to see Force Majeure -- it'll be very interesting to see how this show will evolve into a finished product. I only hope he comes to Portland, I don't know how much more my wallet can take if I have to leave town to see him again. |
